Foodservice workers across the United States are striking for safer working conditions, paid sick leave, and hazard pay as the coronavirus pandemic intensifies. Many striking workers are involved with the the Fight for $15 movement, an effort that started out advocating to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has also supported employee strikes around the country and will be will be holding #WalkoutWednesday every week until the demands are met. 

McDonald's workers in both Chicago and California have filed complaints with the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration alleging that their employers have created hazardous conditions that put them at risk of the coronavirus.

McDonald's representatives have said that the company is rolling out new safety measures and that the health and well-being of employees is a number one priority.
