[video] Canadá acepta juzgar a minera (Guatemala)

La Corte de Justicia de Ontario, Canadá, aceptó tres demandas civiles que fueron presentadas por pobladores de El Estor, Izabal, contra la empresa HudBay Minerals, propietaria de la Compañía Guatemalteca de Níquel (CGN) en el 2007. “Los demandantes buscan justicia y resarcimiento ante la indiferencia e impunidad en el sistema de justicia de Guatemala, ya que empleados de seguridad de esa compañía han violado y dado muerte a mujeres y pobladores de ese municipio, sin que se haga justicia”, expresaron dirigentes humanitarios. Representantes de CGN indicaron por correo electrónico que en el juicio contra HudBay en Canadá no pueden pronunciarse porque dicha firma canadiense ya no es propietaria de esta empresa.
