A pair of recent investigations from Amnesty International have documented increasing digital repression in Vietnam. One report found social media platforms YouTube and Facebook to be complying with more state requests to censor content, limiting free expression in the country. In the second, an attack group known as Ocean Lotus was found to be staging attacks against Vietnamese human rights defenders, including via a piece of commercial software produced by a US company, Cobalt Strike. We contacted the company for a response to this usage of its technology.
