Myanmar Mining Sector-Wide Impact Assessment

Extensive field work has been undertaken, including site visits and interviews as well as focus group discussions and key informant interviews. The report focuses on tin, gold and limestone mining (including cement production) at large, small, artisanal and subsistence scale. Field research has taken place to 65 villages in 16 townships...The Mining (SWIA) presents key human rights risks and opportunities for the Government of Myanmar, companies operating in the sector, and civil society in order to improve the regulation and operations of the sector in the manner that provides benefits to Myanmar, its people and business.On the 11 and 12 October Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business (MCRB) held two consultation meetings in Yangon to receive feedback and allow discussion on the draft Mining Sector Wide Impact Assessment (SWIA).
