Perenco response

Perenco operates in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in accordance with international standards and meets all of its legal requirements regarding the publication of information.  It actively participates in the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in the DRC, which was declared a country conforming to transparency regulations by the administrative board of the EITI on 2nd July 2014.  Perenco was also active in the preparation of the National Anti-Corruption Pact (NACP) between the public sector, the private sector and civil society.  The pact was signed by all parties in Kinshasa on 9th December 2013.

Perenco’s operations have significantly contributed to the state budget since commencing work in the DRC.  In addition, Perenco has carried out numerous initiatives throughout the Muanda territory with the objective of providing wider social and economic benefits to the population.

These initiatives relate to the fields of health, access to drinking water, electricity supplies, education and the maintenance of infrastructure.  Perenco also gives its support to local initiatives which promote the development and empowerment of the people; these include, amongst others, aiding fishermen’s associations, the creation of two important agroforestry projects and significant support for the preservation of the Mangroves National Park (Parc Marin des mangroves).

These actions are carried out in consultation with the Consultative Committee of Muanda, a body that brings together representatives of local communities, and in partnership with the authorities on the ground.
