On August 16^th, the Govt. declared state of emergency in the districts of Challhahuacho, Haquira and Mara, Cotabambas province, due to protesters blocking roads since August 6^th. There were not clashes but there is still no dialogue between the company, the State and the communities. Last April 4^th, members of the New Furebamba peasant community, located in the Challhuahuacho district, in Cotabambas, reached an agreement with MMG Las Bambas mining company representatives [part of China Minmetals].  It established that community members will be hired by the company…in previous days, some community members blocked the Yavi-Yavi sector, affecting the circulation of trucks with mining produce.
