Peru: Following killing of protester against mining project, govt. & civil society examine contracts between mining firms & police; includes company statements

The investigations ordered by the Ministry of Interior on the causes for the killing of one protester at MMG’s Las Bambas mining project revealed irregular behaviour by the police.  Human Rights Defenders without Borders, a local NGO revealed private contracts between the police and mining companies, including Hudbay Minerals, Glencore and MMG [part of China Minmetals].
