Qatar: Employers encouraged not to terminate workers on leave

"Employers urged not to terminate employees on leave", 3 March 2017

To protect workers’ rights, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs has asked employers not to terminate employees during leave. In two separate posts recently shared on social media...the authorities have reminded both employers and employees of two important clauses of Labour Laws dealing with the “Leave”. One clause binds employers not to terminate employees during their leave...Article 85 of the Labour Law says: “The employer may not terminate the service contract or notify the worker of the termination thereof during any of his periods of leave provided for in this law. The employer may not notify the worker of the termination of the contract if the notice period expires during any of such periods of leave.”
