Sir Robert fined after worker loses foot [UK]

Olympic Stadium builder Sir Robert McAlpine has been hit with a £40,000 fine when a lamppost fell on a worker's leg after being hit by a mobile crane… The firm had already pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety laws when it was sentenced at the Old Bailey in central London just before Christmas. It was also ordered to pay 12,500 in costs… Health and Safety Executive inspector Monica Babb said the crane was moved several times and when it was placed in its final position, it was noticed it could hit the lamppost.
