So. Korea: Samsung denies withholding crucial information on toxins & paying huge amount to silence sick workers affected

After the Associated Press found South Korean authorities have, at Samsung's request, repeatedly withheld from workers and their bereaved families crucial information about chemicals they were exposed to at its computer chip and liquid crystal display factories, the company made a statement denying the scandal. New reports indicate that government suppression of this information is continuing. Workers (and family members of deceased workers) are now speaking out.  The company has apparently been seeking to obtain their silence by making large payouts to workers.

In July 2018, "Samsung Electronics and South Korean labor advocacy group SHARPS [Supporters for the Health and Rights of People in the Semiconductor industry] have agreed to unconditionally accept a mediation body’s proposed compensation plan for those who contracted serious illnesses, including leukemia, while working at Samsung’s semiconductor and display production sites."
