UAE: Uber says drivers not bound to company, allowed to work for other businesses

"Uber says drivers in UAE free to work for anyone ... including Careem", 13 Apr 2017

Taxi-hailing app Uber has no exclusivity agreement with limo drivers in the UAE and does not stop them from working for anyone – even Careem, its regional competitor. “More than 3,000 driver-partners are active in the UAE. We do not employ any drivers or own any cars and as a result we do not require partners to work exclusively on Uber platform,” Chris Free, general manager, Uber UAE, told Arabian Business...“Typically, the drivers otherwise work at hotels or are contracted to businesses. We allow them to get more work during slower periods and when not on a contracted shift.” Free confirmed it never limits drivers on how they can make money, but works with them to ensure they make the most money by driving on Uber than on any other platforms.
