"Bunyoro Calls For Transperency Ahead Of Oil Production"

Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom has called for transparency from government and Oil Companies as the country moves into the critical stages of oil production.  Government has licensed three companies to carry on with oil production in the Albertine graben. They include CNOOC, Total and Tullow.

Norman Lukumu, the Prime Minister of Bunyoro, says as the country moves to the oil production stage, there is need for government to furnish the Kingdom with clear information on the activities of oil companies...Lukumu says both the Kingdom and its subjects don't want to be left speculating on oil production since they will be the ones to suffer the hazards that may arise from any eventualities resulting oil production...

Zakaria Lubega, an official from CNOOC...says they are trying to avoid complaints of low compensation in the new framework as they enter the next phase. According to Lubega, the affected property and land owners will be compensated with equally valued land and property elsewhere.
