USA: Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson sues CEO, alleging sexual harassment

"Fox News CEO Roger Ailes Sued For Sexual Harassment By Former Host Gretchen Carlson", 6 July 2016

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson is accusing the network’s chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes, of firing her in retaliation for rebuffing his sexual advances and complaining about “severe and pervasive” sexual harassment at the network.  In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in New Jersey Superior Court, Carlson claims that Ailes repeatedly sexually harassed her, telling her she “can do sweet nothings when [she] wants to,” and asking Carlson to “turn around so he could view her posterior"... 

Ailes (whose full statement is below) denied all accusations, saying Carlson is seeking retaliation for her contract not being renewed. He claims the contract was not renewed due to  low ratings, which Carlson’s attorneys deny... Fox News’ parent company, 21st Century Fox, has issued a statement saying the company is launching an internal review into Carlson’s allegations...

The suit alleges that the first act of retaliation against Carlson came in 2013 when she was fired from her position as co-host of Fox & Friends after over seven years following conversations regarding discrimination she believed she faced there, including from her former co-host Doocy, who she says “regularly treating her in a sexist and condescending way...” ...Ailes has no prior legal history of sexual assault charges, but a 2014 unauthorized biography aired allegations of sexist behavior...
