Lucila Bettina Cruz Velázquez is a Mexican human rights defender, member of the Assembly of the Indigenous Peoples of the Tehuantepec Isthmus in Defense of Land and Territory, of the movement of Civil Resistance against High-Electricity Prices, and of the Red Nacional de Defensoras de Derechos Humanos en México (National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders in Mexico – RNDDHM). She has faced significant threats against her because of her human rights work. She has precautionary protection measured for having been assaulted by state police during her work of informing indigenous communities regarding their rights to property of land. She reported being threatened after judge demands suspension of activities of a company.
