Carlos Jimmy Prado Gallardo was a national delegate to the government programme for consulting communities prior to development projects, in which he represented the community of Black, Afro-Colombian, Raizal and Palenquero communities. His was killed on 02 June 2018, in the town of Olaya Herrera-Satinga, in the department of Nariño. Social leader José Obregón pointed out that Carlos Prado had received a series of threats, which he had reported to the Attorney General. The National Protection Unit provided him with a bulletproof vest and a telephone, but these were not enough to protect his life.
