In June 2024, five migrant workers died following an explosion at their workplace, a factory for South Glass Private in Telangana. Reportedly, the safety valve of the compressor was not working. A worker said the factory supervisor had been cautioned by workers about the compressor; he said a complaint had been filed against the company.

Two days after the blast, representatives of the company offered compensation of Rs3lakh per person, 10% what was asked for; it was later raised to Rs5lakh each. The All India Trade Union Congress has demanded thay South Glass pay compensation of Rs 20 lakh (over USD 23,900) each to the families of the deceased. the Telangana labour department has estimated compensation of about Rs81.81lakh for the deceased, however, the victims' families reportedly did not know how to claim compensation.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited South Glass to respond to the allegation of the safety measure not working as a cause of the accident, the Union’s ask for compensation, and to disclose any steps South Glass has taken to investigate the incident and remedy affected workers or their families. South Glass did not respond.
