...The International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC)...is concerned that...human rights abuses resulting from business activities continue in many contexts across the world, in particular in the context of the economic crisis...In this context, the ICC would like to emphasize the following: Proposals...should be grounded on facts-based evidence...A binding instrument...should be built on the UNGPs and be complementary to current efforts...We...call on Member States to broaden the discussion to include not only transnational corporations but equally...enterprises operating domestically...We encourage the IGWG to adopt and outline a process which is transparent, inclusive, and participatory for all stakeholders...Recent progress in the area of business and human rights has been built on a carefully crafted international consensus...We call on all Member States to safeguard this consensus...
