… TikTok is committed to upholding human dignity and our Community Guidelines explicitly prohibit human exploitation. This prohibition on exploitation includes taking advantage of vulnerable people in connection with trafficking and smuggling. We have tens of thousands of trust and safety professionals working to protect our community, and we expect to invest more than two billion dollars in trust and safety efforts this year alone, which helps us to find and remove this type of content as quickly as possible.

TikTok's Community Guidelines apply to everything on our platform, including content in Direct Messaging (DM). We have safeguards in place to protect our community when using DM, which is only available to account holders aged 16 and older. For example, users cannot send a direct message to someone who doesn't follow them unless the recipient accepts a message request. Users must be aged 18 years or older to receive message requests. If the recipient deletes a message request or doesn't respond, the user is not able to send a DM.
