Throughout March 2024, Satya Bumi together with Walhi Sultra conducted research in Kabaena. His findings, the Bajau tribe became the most affected society from exploitation in Kabaena.

Satya Bumi structuredly looked at the violations that occurred in Kabaena through interviews with residents. Most of them admitted that they experienced health problems due to direct contact with sea water which was used as a mine to dispose of waste.

From Baliara, we also got the story of three children under five years of drowning and dying in a puddle of nickel mine waste.

Furthermore, most of the sources who are native tribes of Bajau also admitted that they experienced economic difficulties because those who previously worked as fishermen had to stop working because the sea had been polluted.
