Intex Resources response

[Intex Resources re concerns related to killings of environmental and land defenders in the Philippines.] We are astounded and saddened by the insinuation in a paragraph on page 21 of the report "Deadly Environment: The dramatic rise in killing of environment and land defenders" that the death of the Albarillo couple – who were reportedly opposed to the purported "mining operations" of Crew Minerals in Mindoro Oriental – can be ascribed to Crew Minerals...We categorically deny any involvement in this case. We are not aware of the incident pertaining to the Albarillo...Crew Minerals/Intex Resources has been a victim of many unsubstantiated claims or allegations on various issues, including human rights and indigenous peoples (IPs) rights violations as well as environmental destruction. None of these claims or allegations has been proven in the proper courts...On the contrary, Crew/Intex, through its community development initiatives, has been promoting the rights of Mangyan IPs and residents of the Mindoro in the areas of education...health...livelihood support...and infrastructure...We take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to uphold human rights in the conduct of our exploration activities. We will continue to be uncompromising in our best-practices approach to community and indigenous peoples engagement and development, as well as environmental management and protection.
