In February 2024, it was reported by Business Today and New Straits Times that a construction company in Cheras brought 93 Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia with the promise of non-existent jobs. The company has allegedly been blacklisted and has had its quotas revoked. Investigations allegedly revealed the workers were left without work, adequate accommodation, or adequate food.

Business Today named the construction company that brought the workers in in 2023 as Ricoler Construction, and said the migrant workers had been taken to ‘obtain [an] Interim Protection Order’.
