Mitsubishi Corporation's response to CSOs' call for responsible disengagement from Yetagun gas project

  • Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) intends to make an early withdrawal from the Yetagun gas field project, in which it indirectly owns 1.93% of shares as a 10% shareholder of Nippon Oil Exploration (Myanmar) Limited (NOEM), and this matter is under discussion with other NOEM shareholders.
  • Decommissioning of the exploration wells and testing wells has already been carried out in an appropriate manner. Decommissioning of the production wells will be discussed and carried out in line with applicable laws and regulations, with consideration for environmental and social aspects.
  • For more information on MC’s stance towards human rights, please refer to our response letter to BHRRC dated February 21st, 2022 ( Mitsubishi Corporation's response to CSOs' letter to investors - Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (business-humanrights.org) )
