Myanmar: Garment workers at SM Myanmar factory report multiple labour rights abuses incl. physical & verbal abuse; incl. co. response

In August 2023,it was reported that workers at SM Myanmar Garment factory faced a series of violations, including physical assault if workers don't meet targets, workers forced to sleep at the factory to work overtime shifts until 12am, verbal abuse, wage reductions, workers facing dismissal or being penalised if they refuse to work overtime, permanent workers being reverted back to daily wage status for taking leave due to illness, workers having to get permission to use the toilets and receiving a warning for taking a bottle of water to the factory to drink.
