Civil Society Organisations Raise Concerns over proposed Industry-led Consolidated Mining Standard

NGOs, unions and community organisations wrote in 2023 a first joint letter to four major mining entities – ICMM, the Mining Association of Canada, The Copper Mark, and the World Gold Council - expressing concern over the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative and highlighting that its development so far fails to meet the minimum criteria of a strong voluntary standard. They reiterated concerns in 2024.

In December 2024, a smaller group of organisations published a briefing outlining concerns over weaknesses of proposed draft standard.

The CMSI has provided responses to both letters and to the briefing.
