Electrician at Achinsk Alumina Refinery received extensive burns due to violation of electrical safety requirements, 7 October 2024
An accident occurred on July 23 in the electrical shop of the TPP of JSC RUSAL Achinsk during repair work on electrical equipment. A senior electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment began work in the electrical cell of the switchgear without special dielectric gloves, without making sure that there was no voltage on current-carrying elements. This resulted in a short circuit with the formation of an electric arc, which led to electric shock and extensive thermal burns to the face, body and lower extremities of the victim.
The cause of the accident was violation of the procedure for admission to high-risk work and failure of division's managers and specialists to ensure control over the progress of the work.
In order to hold officials responsible for the incident accountable, the materials of the investigation were sent to the prosecutor's office and the investigative department of the city of Achinsk.
