On December 24, 2024, a serious accident occurred at the Abagur Branch of EVRAZ ZSMK in the Kemerovo Region. While performing gas-cutting repairs, a welder suffered severe burns (2nd–3rd degree over 65% of his body), inhalation injuries, and burn shock. He was found near the fuel grinding building and died in hospital on January 2, 2025.

An official investigation led by the Siberian Directorate of Rostekhnadzor is underway but not yet concluded.
