Co-op is part of several collaborative initiatives to monitor and improve living standards in Almeria and neighbouring regions. Since 2012, Co-op has played a pivotal role in developing supplier-led regional forums in Spain to drive improvements in working conditions which evolved into the Ethical Trade Forums in 2015….

In 2018, the Forums launched working groups across the key sourcing regions of Murcia, Almeria and Huelva with the aim of collaborating with stakeholders in the design of sustainable solutions to the labour challenges…

Importantly for us as a responsible retailer, Co-op is a sponsor of the Forum’s Canal Foros, an independent grievance mechanism for the agricultural industry in Spain…

Alongside other food retailers and businesses, Co-op is funding a WRAP collective action project on water stewardship in Southern Spain…
