'Unpaid for 4 months': 27 migrant workers stranded in Africa seek help to return home

A group of 27 migrant workers from Jharkhand, stranded in Cameroon…have reached out to the state govt seeking help to return home.

The workers claimed that their employer has withheld their wages, leaving them unable to afford basic necessities such as food and mobile recharges.

The contractor overseeing their work has shown no concern for their well-being, they claimed.

In a joint letter to the Jharkhand labour department, the workers said, “We were brought from India …on March 29…and were told that they would take payment on 15th of every month. We were told that fitters would get $425 and labourer $375, but we have no received even one month’s salary yet. We are not able to get food properly.
