In April 2023, it was reported that a tiger attacked two youths resident at the Bamadanga-Tondu tea estate. The youths were taken to hospital. Residents have demanded that the foresters on a priority basis lay a trap and cage the leopard that they suspect is still roaming in the tea garden. The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre sought a response from Unilever, a buyer from the estate according to its publicly disclosed supplier list, and Lipton (formerly ekaterra), which took over most of Unilever's tea business in 2022.
