"New Plus garment factory forcing the workers to work on Sunday and buying the rest hours by wages", 14 June 2024
I am a worker from New Plus Garment factory...the factory hires around 1,000 workers...
The factory calls overtime every Sunday. Some workers want to rest on Sunday but it will make them fall...behind...
They told...the workers who work on Sunday [that they] will be provided rice and palm oil. Those who don’t work overtime will not be provided [rice and palm oil]...I think they should provide every worker in the factory [with this]...
We [have been] working overtime on Sundays since May. We don’t get rest days.
The whole factory is called [for] overtime until 6:30[pm] on Saturday and those who go back at 4:30 are not provided transportation.
They call overtime until 8:00 pm instead of 7:00 pm...and they say it will be long term...
The factory doesn’t provide food and the workers don’t go out to eat...to avoid failing [behind on] deadlines...The workers have to work very hard to void the verbal abuses of the supervisors...
