In November 2021, the Czech Chemical Safety Organization "Arnika" and Armenian NGOs "Center for Community Mobilization and Support" and "EcoLur" presented results of samples analyses taken from the territories affected by the Teghut Copper-Molybdenum Surface Mine and Sludge operated by Teghut CJSC.

The content of heavy metals and toxic elements typical for industrial wastes of this deposit was studied in the samples of water, sediments, soil, house dust, and biomaterials. In all soil samples, the concentrations of arsenic (As), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) exceeded the maximum allowable concentrations according to Armenian standards. Toxic elements were also found in river sediments and biomaterials of local residents.

In January 2022, Teghout residents blocked the road leading to Teghout mine demanding that the company solve the problems raised by the protesters, including environmental pollution. Company representative met with protesters and denied any leakage or emissions.
