Aurubis response

[Unofficial translation of Aurubis’ German response by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]

1. According to the article below (your answer in footnote 16), suppliers do not exert any pressure on Aurubis not to publish its supplier base; if this allegation is true, why do you still refuse to disclose your supply chain?

Aurubis complies with legal requirements in the disclosure of our supply chain. In our upcoming reporting to BAFA [Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control], we will specifically address the human rights risks we identified in the past fiscal year 2022/23, including in Peru.

In addition: Aurubis does not publish any information on its supplier relationships for competition law and contractual reasons.

2. In view of the demands for more transparency from NGOs, rating agencies, investors etc. mentioned in the article, what can you say about the specific mines from which Aurubis currently purchases copper concentrate?

For competition-related reasons, we do not disclose our supplier relationships.

3. How do you comment on the change in practice at Gold Fields Perú described in the article regarding the non-disclosure of buyers in 2021; was there an exchange on this?

We do not comment on our supplier relationships.

4. According to your assessment, does Aurubis have to disclose from which mines it sources copper concentrate in 2024 to fulfil the German LkSG [Supply Chain Act]?

According to the LkSG, Aurubis must disclose the risks from our supply relationships to BAFA from 2024 on. Aurubis will of course fulfil this requirement.
