Cambodia: Climate change stakeholders & experts to discuss climate financing, community-led climate resilience, blue carbon & renewable energy initiatives among others

Key climate change stakeholders and experts will convene at the Cambodia Climate Change Summit 2024 (CCCS24) … to address challenges and explore solutions for mitigating and adapting to climate impacts in the country, region, and beyond.

Held in the coastal city of Sihanoukville, the fourth annual event will feature 24 sessions, including topics on climate financing, community-led climate resilience, and blue carbon initiatives. Other key areas of focus will include renewable energy, advancements in agriculture and aquaculture, water security, and waste transformation through circular innovation.

This year’s event will also highlight youth-led inclusion with roundtable discussions featuring emerging leaders driving industry change. It will also host a Sustainable Solutions Expo, where businesses and organizations will showcase innovative approaches to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Push For Stronger International Commitments

The CCCS24, held in the run-up to United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) 29, is led by the Ministry of Environment with support from the Mekong Future Initiative…

The event will be presided over by the Minister of Environment, H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, with representatives from the US, Australian, and British Embassies, along with other institutions. Playing a crucial role in supporting the event, the silver sponsors include UNICEF, the British Embassy, Oxfam, and Plan International.

H.E. Eang Sophallet said, “As Cambodia faces increasing climate risks, the Cambodia Climate Change Summit 2024 serves as a crucial platform to unite key stakeholders in addressing the impacts of climate change on our nation and the world. Through our participation in global climate forums, including COP28 and COP29, Cambodia continues to push for stronger international commitments and fulfill our ambitious targets, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030.”…
