CSRD’s reporting standards (ESRS) have to be robust to ensure comparability and quality needed for reporting by publicly listed companies. The standards must be revised on the basis of companies first reporting exercise, while expectations for small mid-caps can be also most effectively clarified directly through the standards and guidance. The European Commission has and should use the options to support business and make the implementation and audit much easier and gradual.
