Five Boston-area companies that are helping Nepal's earthquake victims

Several Boston-area companies are helping in relief efforts for earthquake victims. Below, highlighted a few:

  • HeyWire, maker of consumer and business text messaging apps, has put together a map showing damages based on real-time information from the government of Nepal.
  • Global Rescue, a provider of crisis response services for enterprise-level companies, governments and individuals, has been conducting rescue missions in Nepal.
  • Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) is offering free phone calls to Nepalthrough the end of the month.
  • Digital Lumens, an intelligent lighting company, has an employee from Nepal who started an internal, office-wide fundraising campaign to support efforts in his family's village. 
  • Splitzee, a Boston-based startup that makes it easier for people to pool money in groups to pay for items, has partnered with San Francisco-based Gham Power and co-working space Impact Hub Boston to create and distribute solar power units to earthquake victims in Nepal.
