Mexico: U.S. files 12th complaint under the USMCA related to labour rights concerns at Yazaki Group's factory in Guanajuato

At the beginning of August, the US government asked Mexico to carry out a review, within the scope of the USMCA, of labour rights concerns at Yazaki Group's factory in Guanajuato. The company produces electrical components for autos for Japan-based Yazaki Corp.

According to the U.S., the concerns were related to the alleged denial of freedom of association and collective bargaining to the company's Guanajuato workers.

However, the Mexican labour and economy ministries affirmed that "there is no substantial evidence of employer interference or denial of rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining by the company" and that, therefore, the country would not carry out the requested review.

The BHRRC invited Yazaki Group to comment on the U.S. government allegations and their response is available.
