Myanmar: Garment workers allegedly face labour rights abuses incl. denial of maternity leave & mandatory overtime; Incl. co. responses
In June 2023 it was reported that workers at the Myanmar York garment factory faced a series of violations, overtime, no ferries provided to enable workers to return home after late shifts, pregnant workers denied maternity leave, excessive production targets, and the Workplace Coordination Committee unable to respond to workers’ difficulties.
In October 2023, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited BESTSELLER, H&M, Inditex (for its ZARA brand) and WE Europe to respond. The responses can be found below.
