"Bago Myanmar solamoda Sunrun factory without going home all week and working overtime", 3 March 2024
Workers from Myanmar solamoda Sunrun said they can’t go back home as they are [recruited] for excessive overtime nearly every day. The workers have to sleep on the[ir] working desk in the factory with [odorous] blankets. The factory is locate[d] near Kyawl Da Nyin Kone village, City Bypass road, Bago Industrial Zone.
“The factory [has been recruiting workers for] overtime until 11:00 p.m since December and workers don’t want to work due to security concerns these days. Furthermore, they are also forced to work until 3:00 am on Sunday after working the whole day in Saturday. The transportations arrived only at 5 and the workers who live far get back home at 7:00 am after taking the ride for more than an hour.
They provide only lunch on [some] overtime days and there is no...meal break from 12:30 to 18:30. They have to work from 7:00 am to 11 pm after working a half hour break. Some workers were in tears as [they were] verbally abused. The QC workers are also demoted..[and] also forced to leave without damages...
Myanmar solamoda Sunrun factory have 3 sub factories and the violations are occurring in No 3 sub factory which is from Bago. The factory mainly manufactured GU brand apparel but currently manufacturing other brands too.
