Myanmar: Supervisor at Yi Cai factory becomes second employee to report physical assault within the factory by an outsider; incl. co. response

On 24 August 2022, following an alleged dispute between a line supervisor and an interpreter at Yi Cai Garment factory, the interpreter brought family members to the factory to physically assault the supervisor, resulting in injuries. The factory reportedly did not resolve the issue, and dismissed the supervisor. Although he requested permission to leave the factory and complain to the authority, his request was denied, and he was only permitted to leave once he had signed the resignation letter. This was the second time an outsider had physically assaulted an employee inside the factory.

It was also reported that workers were facing a series of violations at the factory, including wage deductions if workers don't work overtime on Sundays or if a worker is late to work, and the dismissal of day labourers.
