Irregularities in the operation of Sibir Polymetals will be eliminated soon, 06 June 2023
Rosprirodnadzor has found a number of violations in the work of JSC Sibir-Polymetals (a subsidiary of JSC Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, part of UMMC-Holding), which mines polymetallic ores in the Altai region. This was reported by the head of the department Svetlana Radionova in her Telegram-channel.

Sibir-Polymetals confirmed to the correspondent of IA Bankfax that during the scheduled inspection of Rosprirodnadzor a number of remarks were identified. Of the 28 violations identified in the material, 7 were promptly eliminated during the inspection. The final order of the commission includes 16 items that will be eliminated in the near future.
The violations include inaccurate statistical reporting, lack of mining and environmental monitoring, and placement of waste dumps outside the licence area. The company also failed to implement measures to prevent soil contamination with oil products.

The inspectors also found out that the Zarechensky subsoil plot, where the company stopped mining operations back in 2021, had not been mothballed. The inspection showed that during mining the land plots were not brought to a condition suitable for their further use.
