Thailand: Report highlights community struggle against gold mine & reprisals against environmental defenders; Tungkum Ltd. did not respond

In 2014, 150 masked armed men attacked the small village of Na Nong Bong in Thailand’s Loei Province, whose residents, united in the organization 'Khon Rak Ban Kerd Group', have been non-violently opposing the gold mine located near the village. The armed men detained and beat up ocal residents while trucks transported ore out of the mine operated by Thai mining company Tungkum Limited. Residents repeatedly called the local police for help, but there was no response. Years later an army lieutenant colonel and a retired army lieutenant general were convinced for their involvement. We invited Tungkum Ltd. to respond to the new report, which details the 10-year struggle of the Khon Rak Ban Kerd Group, and the resulting attacks against the environmental defenders that are members of it - Tungkum Ltd. did not respond.
