Toxic gas due to oil spill sickens 29 in Guimaras [Philippines]

Twenty-nine people had gotten sick due to the elevated hydrogen sulfide present in the air of three villages in Nueva Valencia, in Guimaras province which is heavily affected by the MT Solar I oil spill, said a government report...The high levels of hydrogen sulfide resulted to the sickness of 25 adults and four children in these villages, said the report..."These levels exceeded the US-Environmental Protection Agency Provisional Remediation Goal (EPA-PRG) ...," said the recommendations report...The report added that, "aside from 29 sick residents, one death was reported in Sitio Banakan.
