Mr. ArpudhaKani is a farmer and land rights activist from Ramanathapuram, India. He is an active member of Maan Meetpu Kulu, an organisation which work for the protection of agricultural lands in Kadaladi Taluk. Mr. ArpudhaKani and other members of Maan Meetpu Kulu protested against industrial waste and encroachment on land in Kadaladi Taluk by the chemical company Chemfab Ltd., financed by Dr Rao Holdings Pte. On March 14, 2022, Mr. Arpudhakani was beaten and stabbed by a group of assaulters near the main gate of Chemfab Ltd. On November 2021 and March 2022, members of Maan Meetpu Kulu had submitted complaint letters to the District Collector asking for protection against possible attacks.
