BP's non response to fuel supply for violent conflict following ICJ ruling

According to a report from Oil Change International, BP's 30% stake in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline allegedly plays a significant role in the supply chain for Azeri oil. Consequently, "30% of the Azeri oil imported by Israel" is attributed to BP. The major international oil companies collectively supplied "35% of Israel’s crude oil," with BP and Chevron each contributing 8% due to their prominent positions in Azeri and Kazakh oil production. Thus, investor-owned and private oil companies are responsible for "66% of the crude oil supplies to Israel”.Despite growing international pressure and scrutiny over military aid to Israel, the continued supply of oil by BP, highlights the company’s purported complicity in supporting military actions that contribute to severe human rights abuses.

We requested BP to respond to the above as well as the following questions:

  1. Can you confirm if your company supplies oil to Israel?
  2. How does your company reconcile its supply of oil to Israel with the International Court of Justice ruling and its obligations under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights?

BP did not respond.
