Brazil: IKEA's former supplier charged & fined for environmental damage

Aurélie Piel for Disclose

The NGO Disclose launched the documentary "IKEA, Lord of the Forests", which shows that IKEA's former manufacturer in Brazil, the company Artemobili, has been charged and fined for environmental crimes in the country. The crimes included burying large quantities of toxic waste and removal of native vegetation without authorisation.

We invited IKEA to comment on the allegations and the company's response is available.

Disclose claims that they were threatened by Artemobili. The company would have said that would sue them if its business links with Ikea were mentioned publicly.

We invited Artemobili to comment on the allegations, but the company did not respond.
