Chevron Corp. escalated its long-running legal battle over pollution in Ecuador by releasing to YouTube videos that purportedly show a $3 million bribery scheme involving the judge hearing the case and the president of Ecuador…Chevron has been bracing for a big verdict ordering it to clean up pollution left over after it ceased Ecuador drilling operations in 1990…The release of this video fits in with Chevron's bare-knuckled publicity campaign to derail the case, which was filed originally in New York and moved to Ecuador at Chevron's insistence. Lawyer Steven Donziger, who has been suing Chevron since 1993, said this latest effort will fail.
