Clothing brands Bestseller, H&M, and Primark are placing new orders from suppliers in Myanmar despite the continued political instability and violations to human and labour rights in the country. Earlier, the companies paused orders from Myanmar following the attempted coup in February.

In December 2021, the ACT initiative, which includes brands such as H&M, Zara owner Inditex and Primark, announced it would cease operations in Myanmar, after its affiliated local trade union the Industrial Workers' Federation of Myanmar (IWFM) withdrew from the initiative, as it was no longer able to 'operate freely' under the military.

In January 2021, Tesco announced it would be 'responsibly' exiting Myanmar, following reports of unpaid compensation for thousands of workers at one of its suppliers.
