Peru: Amazonian Indigenous organisation calls on Ocho Sur's international buyers to demonstrate supply chain sources are not implicated in human rights abuses
The Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest (AIDESEP) published an open letter calling on international palm oil buyers supplied by Grupo Ocho Sur, the RSPO and international civil society to take action against the Peruvian palm oil company's allegedly "predatory and divisive" practices. According to AIDESEP, Ocho Sur's activities have been "affecting the self-determination and self-government of the Amazonian Indigenous peoples of Ucayali".
We invited the companies mentioned by AIDESEP to comment on the letter.
ADN Consultores, Bunge, Louis Dreyfus, Ocho Sur and RSPO responded.
Amerra Capital Management, Anholt Services, Kattegat Trust, Lasenor Emul, Meiji Group, Nisshin Oillio Group and Vandemoortele Lipids NV did not answer.
LIPSA had not answered, but contacted us on November 17th and provided a response.
