The Alien Tort Statute (ATS), 28 U.S.C. ยง1350 was enacted by Congress to provide a federal forum for tort claims by aliens for violations of the law of nations or treaties of the United States. Despite this congressional mandate, respondentsโ amicus Products Liability Advisory Council, Inc. (PLAC) wrongly argues that suits by aliens against corporations place an unsustainable burden on corporations and the federal courts. Amici write to correct PLACโs misstatements and distortions about ATS litigation.
