APM terminals responds to allegations regarding dismissal of union leader in Morroco
With reference to our earlier correspondence, please find below our response to your inquiry.
With our decision to end the relationship with the person involved, we used our company right to protect the business, in accordance with the Moroccan labour law, after consultation of lawyers and based on solid evidence. The dismissal of the person involved had nothing to do with the fact that he is a union member (Locally or at an International level) or a union official. At the time of his dismissal this person was not a representative of the company’s employees and this has not changed since. The employees representative elections were last held on 2015 as per law, and we have an ongoing and open dialogue with the most representative trade union in our company (98% of the company employees) as per the law and per our company values and policies, in the same time we have open doors and dialogue with other, less-representative unions. In addition we are currently in a conversation with the relevant parties and the nominated affiliates at local and international level about this subject.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to me should you have any further questions.
